"Stree 2: Sarkate Ka Aatank" is the 2024 sequel to the hit 2018 comedy-horror film "Stree". Directed by Amar Kaushik and produced by Maddock Films and Jio Studios, the film follows the continuing adventures of the characters from the original as they face a new supernatural threat. Set in the Maddock Supernatural Universe, "Stree 2" brings back Rajkummar Rao, Shraddha Kapoor, Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee, and Aparshakti Khurana in their roles, as they try to uncover the mysteries surrounding a new terror: a headless ghost causing chaos in the town.

The idea for a sequel emerged in 2018, soon after the success of the original "Stree". By 2022, Rajkummar Rao confirmed that a sequel was in development. The project officially took off in April 2023, and principal photography began in July, with the film being primarily shot in Chanderi, the location of the first film, and parts of Bihar. The sequel aimed to blend the comedy and horror elements that made the first film popular, while introducing new scares and twists. The film features music by Sachin-Jigar, a score by Justin Varghese, and technical elements like cinematography by Jishnu Bhattacharjee and editing by Hemanti Sarkar.

In "Stree 2", the group of friends, led by Vicky (played by Rajkummar Rao), once again find themselves in the middle of strange and supernatural events. The story focuses on a new spirit haunting their town, this time a headless entity causing terror. The characters, including Vicky, Bittu (Aparshakti Khurana), and Rudra (Pankaj Tripathi), have to band together to uncover the mystery behind this new menace while dealing with the comedic challenges they encounter along the way.

The film builds on the lore of the supernatural in the small town setting, tying it into the larger Maddock Supernatural Universe. Themes of friendship, fear, and humor are explored as the characters investigate the origins of the headless ghost and attempt to put an end to its reign of terror. The film also sees the return of Shraddha Kapoor's character, who plays a significant role in guiding the group through the supernatural challenges they face.

"Stree 2" was released on August 15, 2024, and received positive reviews from both critics and audiences. Its blend of humor and horror, combined with strong performances and engaging special effects, helped it become a success at the box office, grossing over ₹78 crore. The film's success solidified its place as a worthy continuation of the "Stree" franchise and left fans excited for future installments in the Maddock Supernatural Universe.
